Early Childhood Education Program Manager

We are a state and federal funded anti-poverty, non-profit agency with a budget of $11,000,000+ and 110 FTEs recruiting a seasoned, skilled professional Early Childhood Education Program Manager to: 

  • Develop annual program plans, goals, objectives and procedures based on Head Start Performance Standards and other applicable directives, state licensing and professional accreditation requirements
  • Support and promote directly and indirectly, the developmental status of CAO’s Head Start children, may make home visits and attend/facilitate parent conferences
  • Oversee and ensure staffing adequacy in classrooms
  • Create, implement, monitor and evaluate effectiveness of annual comprehensive professional development program to ensure all Education staff meet and maintain required credentials and licenses
  • Respectfully supervise, support, counsel and team with professional Early Childhood Education Supervisors who supervise classroom staff and service delivery
  • Ensure appropriate actions related to and maintain records of classroom monitoring, student developmental screenings/assessments, child progress reports, home visits, parent conferences, etc.  Conduct periodic classroom observations of staff/children and provide consulting/technical assistance support as needed
  • Designate, recommend and monitor procurement of teaching materials and equipment
  • Help to design and ensure implementation of the School Readiness Plan including the plan of action to achieve the CAO Head Start school readiness goals.

Requires: Graduation from a regionally or CHEA accredited four year college or university with a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and at least five years of related experience with preschool children, including three years of administrative, supervisory and training experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.  Prefer bi-lingual in Spanish. 

Also Requires: Valid North Carolina Driver License, must have or have the ability to obtain CRC Letter of Qualification from NCDCDEE, pass pre-employment background checks, TB screen, and a physical examination.

Compensation: $59,426 to $70,000 (DOQ) plus competitive benefits including 401(k)

Disabilities Service Specialist

We are a state and federal funded anti-poverty, non-profit agency recruiting a Disabilities Service Specialist.  This position is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of services that support the planning, administration and ongoing assessment of services and partnerships in the areas of disabilities services for children. The position also provides staff training and technical assistance including on-site consultation, coaching, and mentoring to other staff under the guidance and direction of the Health Manager.  This support will align with the Social and Emotional Foundations of Early Learning Pyramid Model framework, Head Start Program Performance Standards and the North Carolina Foundations of Early Learning Standards that support continuous improvement in child outcomes in the domain of Social Emotional Development and School Readiness.
Work also requires coordinating services with community agencies, service providers and other program employees.  Work requires an understanding of the Head Start Program Performance Standards and 1302 Subpart F Services to Children with Disabilities, teamwork, Social and Emotional Foundations of Early Learning Pyramid Model framework, organizational skills, and strong oral and written communication skills.  Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Health & Disabilities Services Program Manager.  Work is evaluated through observation, discussion, auditing and monitoring results, goal-achievement and Significant Incidents that demonstrate job quality, quantity, timeliness and results.  Work is formally reviewed, and future goals are set, during an annual performance appraisal.


Requires Graduation from a from a regionally or CHEA accredited college or university with a four year degree  with an Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Early Childhood or related field and two years of experience working in a preschool program with children with disabilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bi-lingual Spanish preferred.  This position is non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime pay


Compensation:   $16.48 to 19.77 DOQ plus competitive benefits including 401(k)

HR Manager
We are an anti-poverty agency looking for a seasoned, professional HR professional to be our HR Manager.  Along with a personnel analyst, this hands-on position supports the HR needs of 130 FTEs.

Our HR Manager ensures that we comply with relevant employment law is responsible for HR-related policies, programs and systems including but not limited to job analysis, pay and classification, recruitment, screening and selection, employee benefits and electronic and hardcopy HR records.  The HR Manager must also know and apply federal and state HR laws and regulations, be able to communicate clearly, exercise sound judgment, meet repeated deadlines, work on teams, facilitate small groups, demonstrate best-practice supervision and counsel others on lawful employment and behaviorally-based discipline practices. 

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in HR Management, Public Administration or Business Administration with an emphasis in HR, or a related field
  • Minimum of eight (8) years as an assistant or HR Manager/Director in a small public or medium-sized non-profit organization
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience and SHRM-SCP also required. 
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable. 
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish/English preferred 

This position is exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime pay

Salary Range:  $60,770 to $85,079 (DOQ) plus competitive benefits including 401(k)
