IT Director

We are a state and federal funded anti-poverty agency with a budget of $11,000,000+110 FTEs recruiting a seasoned, hands-on Information Technology Director to perform highly skilled professional and technical work, including systems analysis and policy development.  This position plans, organizes, develops and recommends agency-wide information and technology systems, operations, budgets, procedures and policies.  

Work includes assessing and analyzing information technology needs and implementing solutions to address those needs; overseeing the installation and maintenance of information systems, supporting activity related to the agency-owned, state-wide database application and hardware, Accountable Results for Community Action, (AR4CA) intranets, computer hardware and software, telephone and facility security; supervising and supporting a highly technical professional IT Engineer and Sr. Software Engineer and developing related policies and procedures. 

Work also includes purchasing equipment and supplies and overseeing technical contractor work and user support.  Major work is accomplished through teamwork and collaboration with subordinates and Senior and Leadership Team Members.

Requires graduation from a regionally or CHEA accredited four year college with a Masters degree in computer science, information systems, or related field and at least 10 years in Information Technology or Information Systems management as a director, network, systems or operations manager.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.  Prefer bi-lingual in Spanish. 

This position is exempt under FLSA and is ineligible for overtime pay 

Compensation:  $77,489 to $108,484 (DOQ) plus competitive benefits including 401(k)

Energy Service Technician I
Community Action Opportunities is seeking an Energy Service Technician I to perform residential energy-efficiency and health/safety work on homes in the agency’s eight-county service area.  Work requires exposure to a variety of potential hazards associated with building construction, including extreme weather conditions and temperatures for prolonged periods.
Requirements

  • Valid North Carolina Driver License
  • Ability to pass pre-employment pulmonary function and respirator fit tests
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background and drug screenings
  • High school graduate or GED required with preference for some college courses in basic carpentry, industrial work or environmental science
  • Two years of work experience in other building trades such as plumber, electrician, HVAC Specialist or related field
  • BPI or related certification preferred
  • Bi-lingual in English/Spanish preferred

Salary Range:  $15.55 to $16.60 per hour DOQ plus comprehensive benefits package

HR Manager
We are an anti-poverty agency looking for a seasoned, professional HR professional to be our HR Manager.  Along with a personnel analyst, this hands-on position supports the HR needs of 130 FTEs.

Our HR Manager ensures that we comply with relevant employment law is responsible for HR-related policies, programs and systems including but not limited to job analysis, pay and classification, recruitment, screening and selection, employee benefits and electronic and hardcopy HR records.  The HR Manager must also know and apply federal and state HR laws and regulations, be able to communicate clearly, exercise sound judgment, meet repeated deadlines, work on teams, facilitate small groups, demonstrate best-practice supervision and counsel others on lawful employment and behaviorally-based discipline practices. 

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in HR Management, Public Administration or Business Administration with an emphasis in HR, or a related field
  • Minimum of eight (8) years as an assistant or HR Manager/Director in a small public or medium-sized non-profit organization
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience and SHRM-SCP also required. 
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable. 
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish/English preferred

Salary Range:  $60,770 to $85,079 (DOQ) plus competitive benefits including 401(k)
